Getting Started / General

How much do you charge?

We understand pricing is everything, and we offer a robust set of options that includes individual service pricing, plus cost-effective bundle and packages.

You can find our full pricing here.

What makes ANOBS different from other business service firms?

Our strength is in offering end-to-end support under one roof — consulting, bookkeeping, tax planning, contracting, and branding — so you don’t need to juggle multiple vendors. We tailor solutions to your stage and growth goals, not a one-size-fits-all package.

Who is your ideal client (industry, revenue range, stage)?

We work best with small to medium businesses, startups, creators, and hobbyists scaling toward a formal business. Typically clients are generating some revenue (even side income) and seeking to professionalize systems, compliance, and growth strategy.

Our proven strategies and capabilities can be adapted to almost any industry.

Can you help me scale my hobby into a full business (e.g. influencer, Etsy brand)?

Absolutely. We offer services to transition creators & hobbyists into sustainable businesses—covering branding, monetization strategy, bookkeeping, and tax planning.

What's the process from signup to kickoff?

  1. Discovery / intake (you provide background, documents, current challenges)

  2. Proposal & agreement (scope, deliverables, timeline)

  3. Onboarding (access, setup of tools, data gathering)

  4. Execution & reviews

What do you need from me to get started?

We’ll ask for financial statements, bank/credit logins or exports, branding assets, access to social/marketing accounts (if branding/consulting included), previous tax returns, and information on your current workflows. Timely delivery of those helps us hit deadlines.

How will we communicate and how often will I get updates?

We prefer using email for regular communication and video calls for meetings. You’ll receive scheduled updates (weekly / biweekly / monthly depending on the package). Urgent issues can be escalated via email.

Will you sign an NDA or confidentiality agreement?

Yes. We take client data privacy seriously. We can sign NDAs and commit to keeping all proprietary information, financials, trade secrets, etc., confidential.

Who works on my project?

You’ll have a dedicated lead consultant or manager. We may bring in specialists (e.g. branding designer, tax analyst) as needed. But you’ll always know who is working and who your point of contact is.

Can't AI do all of this now?

AI is an incredibly powerful tool that can aid in a lot of areas of business (we even employ it in some of our work), but if you’re solely relying on that, you’re already behind.

Business is an ever-evolving landscape that requires innovative thinking and a deep understanding of our always shifting socio-political landscape that can only come from years of experience and a human touch.

Business Setup & Compliance

I think I have a killer idea. Where do I start?

Congrats! That’s the first step. All of the best businesses start with a great idea and the desire to fill a need.

Next steps include creating a business plan, defining actionables, implementing systems, and putting everything into action. All things we specialize in here at ANOBS.

Is my business too niche to work?

In this new digital landscape we find ourselves in, there is no business too niche. It’s easier now than ever to find and connect with your right audience.

Some of the most successful ideas are the niche ones, because there’s less competition and more room for growth.

It boils down to setting up a strong foundation to grow from a hobby to a full-fledged operation. Something we specialize in.

When should I treat my hobby as a business for tax purposes?

Once you begin making consistent sales with the intent to profit, tax authorities may consider it a business. You should keep records, possibly register your business, and report the income accordingly.

What business structure should I choose (sole proprietorship, LLC, S-Corp, etc.)?

The “right” structure depends on your revenue, liability exposure, and growth goals. For example, an LLC may give you liability protection, while an S-Corp can help reduce self-employment taxes (in some cases). We recommend consulting a tax advisor for your specific situation.

Are there licenses or permits I need to sell (online, crafts, etc.)?

It depends on location and industry. Some cities / states require a business license, sales tax registration, or home occupation permit. We can help you research your local requirements as part of onboarding.

When should I bring on a bookkeeper, accountant, or tax specialist?

When you begin feeling stretched by volume, when your tax situation becomes more complex, or when you want advisory support. A pro can save time, reduce errors, and help you scale wisely.

Services, Scope & Deliverables

What exactly is included in your services / package?

Each package comes with defined deliverables (e.g. number of bookkeeping entries per month, tax planning, branding strategy, deliverable revisions). We also define what’s not included (e.g. legal services, ad spend, full software development) so expectations are clear.

How do the different tiers in your bundles & packages work?

All of our bundles and packages come in different tire levels, all offerings in the lower tiers are still applicable (or are modified) in the higher-end tiers.

So, signing up for a higher tier gets you everything there plus what’s offered in the lower tiers.

What if my needs change or I want an extra service not in my plan?

We support change requests. Minor tweaks are included within limits; major additions are quoted separately. We’ll inform you of extra costs before proceeding.

Do you help with brand design, logo, social media, etc.?

Yes, our branding services include visual identity, style guides, social templates, and strategy. Branding projects are scoped separately from core consulting/bookkeeping.

How do you price your services? Are there hidden fees?

We offer retainer / package pricing, hourly rates, or project-based quotes depending on service type. We disclose all fees upfront—no surprise charges. Additional costs (e.g. third-party subscriptions, software licenses) are passed through with consent.

Is there a minimum commitment or term?

Some services come with minimum terms (e.g. a 3-month commitment), others may be month-to-month. We’ll clarify before you sign. On renewal, the contract may auto-renew unless cancelled.

Bookkeeping & Financial Management

What's the difference between bookkeeping and accounting?

Bookkeeping involves daily record-keeping: tracking income, expenses, reconciling accounts. Accounting involves analysis, preparing financial statements, tax planning, and financial insights.

Do I need double-entry bookkeeping, or is single-entry enough?

Single-entry bookkeeping may work for very simple setups, but double-entry gives you more control, error detection, and a clearer accounting of assets, liabilities, and equity.

How often should I do bookkeeping / reconcile accounts?

Monthly is ideal. If your business volume is very light, you could do it quarterly, if your volume is high, we can do weekly or biweekly. We set the cadence based on your needs and package. But consistent reconciliation helps you catch errors early and keeps financials ready for tax season.

What software do you recommend (QuickBooks, Xero, etc.)?

We typically work with QuickBooks, as they integrate well, support reporting, and streamline tasks like invoicing, bank syncs, and financial statements.

If you’re on a different platform, we can assist with migration. Some firms use QuickBooks exclusively for compatibility and data portability.

Can I do bookkeeping myself, or should I hire someone?

You can do basic bookkeeping if comfortable with numbers, software, and accuracy. But as your workload or complexity grows, outsourcing or working with a professional ensures things are correct and compliant.

What records should I maintain, and how long should I keep them?

Keep invoices, receipts, bank/credit statements, payroll records, contracts, tax returns. Generally, retain records for 3–7 years (or more depending on jurisdiction).

What are common bookkeeping mistakes I should avoid?

Mixing personal and business accounts, failing to reconcile regularly, misclassifying expenses, losing receipts, delaying record updates.

Taxes & Deductions

Will you prepare / file my taxes?

We provide tax planning, preparation, and filing services (for businesses and sometimes individuals depending on package). In some cases, bookkeeping and tax work are separate engagements.

What business expenses are tax-deductible?

Many “ordinary and necessary” business costs qualify: supplies, software, advertising, home office (if you meet IRS rules), travel, and more. Proper documentation (receipts, logs) is crucial.

Do I have to pay quarterly estimated taxes?

If you’re self-employed or running a business without tax withholding, yes — the IRS typically requires quarterly estimated tax payments to avoid penalties.

How does the home office deduction work?

You can deduct a portion of home-related expenses (utilities, rent, etc.) if you use a space exclusively and regularly for business. There are simplified and regular methods; we can help determine which is better for you.

Can you help with sales tax, payroll taxes, and other compliance issues?

Yes — we assist with registration, reporting, and remittance (or partner with dedicated tax/payroll services). Jurisdiction rules vary, so we customize for your location.

What if I get audited or need to amend a return?

We support you through audit responses (within limits defined in service contract). For amendments, we can prepare and guide you through corrections.

Growth, Scaling & Services

What guarantees or assurances do you offer?

While we can’t guarantee specific revenue or outcomes, we guarantee timely delivery of promised services, responsive support, and professional standards. In some cases, we offer service-level commitments (e.g. “first revision within 5 business days”).

How do you protect my data and maintain security?

We use encryption, secure cloud storage, access control, regular backups, and, if needed, NDAs. We only grant access on a “least privilege” basis, and when engagements end we return or destroy files as agreed.

What happens if I am dissatisfied or need revisions?

You may submit feedback or change requests within the scope. We’ll collaborate to refine deliverables. If dispute arises, we refer to our service agreement and offer mediation or stepwise resolution.

Is there ongoing support after the initial engagement?

Yes — we offer maintenance, retainer services, periodic reviews, and advisory support so you don’t lose momentum.

What metrics or KPIs do you track to show progress?

Depending on your goals: revenue growth, profit margin, cash flow, expense ratios, client acquisition cost, social metrics (for branding), etc. We agree on success metrics up front.

We’re here to help you.
